THE FOUNTAIN

The fountain, once removed, was located in the Pleasure Grounds, adjacent to the Walled garden and was clearly intended as a focal point as it is visible from many view points.

The fountain was composed of two tiers of stone basins rising out of a circular stone lined pond. Nothing now remains of the fountain save for a circular depression c.7.6m wide. It is believed the fountain was sold in the 1920's and is rumoured to be in the Co. Waterford area. Kilkenny County Council is attempting to source the original fountain for reinstatement in the gardens. Any information which you might have that may be of use to us in the tracking down of the fountain, would be of enormous help. If you do have any information, please contact us.
